Kathy Wang was born into a musical family and began her piano studies at the age of three. With over a decade of professional music training at the China Conservatory of Music and its affiliated middle school, she majored in both piano and composition from the age of twelve.
After relocating to Canada, Kathy completed advanced studies in composition and piano at the University of British Columbia, where she studied with renowned professors and engaged with highly competitive music students from around the globe.

Kathy has achieved distinction in both composition and piano performance, with her works frequently performed by the Contemporary Players Ensemble at UBC’s School of Music. Her musical accomplishments have earned her numerous awards and performance scholarships in both China and Canada.

As a passionate educator, Kathy has taught private piano lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, as well as Yamaha group classes, composition, and musicianship. Her teaching philosophy centers around inspiring and nurturing students, from those with a casual interest in music to those with aspirations to pursue it professionally.
